The home garden — what feeds us first.

The backyard plot is the kitchen-table half of the operation. Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, beans, and whatever the season is willing to give.

The home garden is where Wilder Roots quietly learns.

It's the plot we cook from. Tomatoes, peppers, herbs, beans — and whatever the season lets us try. Some of it shows up on the table; the rest shows up here in Field Notes as a story about something we figured out or got wrong.

None of it goes to market — yet. It's where we test the techniques, the schedules, and the writing. By the time we ever sell a jar of anything from the garden, it's because we've made it for ourselves so many times it's not a recipe anymore. It's a standard.
